I give really good advice. Seriously I do. It isn't so much that I help people solve their immediate problems, it is that I help them think more clearly about their problems so that they can solve them in a way they are going to feel REALLY good about. The people I help tell me I have transformed their lives. The approach I teach is called Humanism and it has been around since, well, forever. The three main aspects of the philosophy I teach is how to make better decisions thru critical thinking. How to improve your relationships thru compassion and how to infuse your life with meaning and purpose by applying your ethics actively to all your decisions, not just the big ones.
I am the host of this website and the author of The Bully Vaccine which teaches an operant conditioning approach to the problem of bullying.
Very few bullies think of themselves as bullies. No matter how horrible someone seems to you, you should not think of them as horrible people. Most likely, they aren’t. And if you let them, they may just surprise you.
There are many ways to stand up to a bully. Sometimes it involves, actually standing up, but really, all it is is removing their reward. I realize this isn’t helpful on it’s own, so let me give you an example of what I mean using social groups as the tool.
It’s hard to be a compassionate person when you are afraid. You may not feel like it and you may think your anger is justified. Here’s a little tip. Compassion will help you feel better – immediately. Do this for you, not your bully.
