The hardest part of getting a bully to stop is understanding that they will cycle through something called an extinction burst. This basically means that when you stop rewarding them for their bad behavior, they are going to get more aggressive to get you to give in. This is why most people thing confronting a bully doesn’t work it only makes things worse.
The reality is, the reason it got worse is because what you did worked and the bully is fighting against it. When you understand why the bully is behaving as they are, it is easier to ride out the extinction burst until the bully stops. This video explains the process is more detail.
