I give really good advice. Seriously I do. It isn't so much that I help people solve their immediate problems, it is that I help them think more clearly about their problems so that they can solve them in a way they are going to feel REALLY good about. The people I help tell me I have transformed their lives. The approach I teach is called Humanism and it has been around since, well, forever. The three main aspects of the philosophy I teach is how to make better decisions thru critical thinking. How to improve your relationships thru compassion and how to infuse your life with meaning and purpose by applying your ethics actively to all your decisions, not just the big ones.
I am the host of this website and the author of The Bully Vaccine which teaches an operant conditioning approach to the problem of bullying.
Don’t lose faith just because your bully lied and people seemed to believe them. Keep doing what you need to do and keep applying pressure on them to stop. Consistent, compassionate pressure.
When someone is accused of bullying, our biases impact how we respond to the allegation. In fact, they impact whether we believe the allegation or not.
It is a huge mistake to characterize a kid who is behaving badly and bullying as evil. First, it gives them more power over our imaginations then is warranted. And second, it prevents us from doing what we should be doing to stop them.
Their goal is rarely against a particular group of people (though they might justify their behavior that way). The goal is social exclusion and power. Until and unless we deal with that, as the goal, we will fail to get it to stop.
